- Norwegian defence lack preparedness

Former Defence Chief Sverre Diesen is of the opinion that the Norwegian Defence lacks the preparedness needed to meet the threats that the Norwegian authorities think the country faces.

Diesen's statement is made in an article in the newspaper Aftenposten on Monday. 

The former Defence Chief writes that Norway for considerable periods each year is without preparedness in important areas.

He also writes that NOK billions spent on ships and planes may have been wasted, because there is a lack of trained personnel in time of need.

Diesen says this some times is due to cuts in the budget for training and exercises in the defence forces.
