It was Friday night that the group of reindeer was discovered in the mountain range between Møsvatn and Kalhovd Hardangervidda, in Vinje County.

It was a lightning strike in connection with a violent thunderstorm that seems to have taken the lives of animals, says Knut Nylend by the Norwegian Nature Inspectorate (SNO) in Finnabu operations center told VG.
There are approximately 10,000 caribou that migrate over an area of 8,000 square kilometers on Hardangervidda , according to Norwegian Wild Reindeer Centre . Hardangervidda is Norway's largest caribou range.
