Unreliable city clocks

Oslo city dwellers as well as visitors to the Norwegian capital have been complaining that strategically placed large clocks in the city can never be relied upon to show correct time.

Natalie Zemon Davis, Professor at the University of Toronto, has been awarded the Norwegian Holberg Prize for 2010 for outstanding scholarly work, in particular her imaginative approach to history.

The Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters has decided to award the Abel Prize for 2010 to John Torrence Tate, University of Texas at Austin, for his vast and lasting impact on the theory of numbers.
