Princess Ingrid Alexandra celebrates 10-year birthday

Princess Ingrid AlexandraHer Royal Highness Ingrid Alexandra turned 10 years old on Tuesday. The Palace has released a series of three new pictures for her birthday.  Norway's future queen is only ten years old, but the recent pictures released by the Palace show a mature girl with a serious and independent look.

Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit have strived to give the princess an upbringing as close to normal as possible. There is no public celebration of her birthday other than that it is an official flag day.

The birthday was celebrated with a party for her family and friends, Head of Communication at the Palace, Marianne Hagen, tells NTB.

Despite having a birthday celebration not unlike most of her classmates, the Princess is already well aware of her position and future responsibility. She has had several public assignments, both with her parents and grandparents.

She also usually participates in the ski jump event at Holmenkollen every winter, and she has duties in association with Norway's National holiday on May 17.

However, Hagen informs that her most important job right now is school.

At home, the Crown Prince couple has said that they try to give the Princess time for her favourite spare-time acitivities, such as drawing, reading books, listen to music, play the piano and spend time with the family dog - Milly Kakao and the puppy Muffins.

The pictures that have been released in association with the Princess' birthday are taken by Sølve Sundsbø at the Crown Prince couple's residence at Skaugum in 2013.
