Gas leak closes Sleipner

The 217 workers on the Sleipner A-platform were ready to enter the lifeboats after a gas leak was registered Wednesday.

However the situation was quickly brought under control.
- Two gas detectors were activated and the production closed down. All were asked to go to the lifeboats, says Statoil information director Ola Morten Aanestad to Dagbladet.

However, after two hours the danger was over, but the production will not be resumed before the leak has been located.
