Skiing World Championships: A fourth gold for Northug

Norway's Petter Northug secured his 4th gold medal of the Nordic Skiing World Championships, when he won the men's 50km cross country mass start event at Falun, Sweden on Sunday.

He out-sprinted Czech veteran Lukas Bauer and Russia’s Maxim Vylegzhanian on the final stretch, having passed Sweden’s own Johan Olsson a few metres earlier.

Bauer secured silver, while Olsson claimed bronze, on this, the last competition of the Championships.

Northug's victory means that Norway won nine of the 12 cross country races for men and women.
