The Labor Party further ahead in new poll
The latest poll made by Opinion shows that Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg's Labor Party (Ap) steals support form almost all the other parties. The Labor Party is now supported by 38,3 percent of the electorate, according to the recent poll by Opinion Perducos on behalf of the Newspapers’ News Agency (ANB). The party’s support increases by 4,7 percentage points compared to December, and the advance is at the cost of almost all the remaining parties. The Conservatives (Høyre) moves back 2,2 percentage points, to 27,8 percent. The Progress Party (FrP) moves slightly forward, up to 14,3 percentage points. The Center Party (Sp) drops from 4,1 percent to 3,9, while the Socialist Left Party steps back 0,1 points to 4,5 percent. The poll also shows that the Christian Democrats drops 0,3 points to 5,1, and the Christian Democrats move back 0,7 percentage points to 4,2. Norway currently has the lowest unemployment rate in history, and the Labor Party’s Secretary, Raymond Johansen, thinks the results reflect that voters have seen the party secure jobs in a time of economic crisis and uncertainty. Election researcher Frank Aarebrot thinks that the Labor Party’s big climb is due to several factors, including the "July 22nd-effect" now that the court date is getting closer in time. Due to the crisis in Europe, he also thinks there is more focus on the Labor Party and the Conservatives due to their status as traditionally safe and responsible parties. (DN) Julie Ryland
