Norwegian ISAF forces out of Afghanistan in 2013

Norway's new Defence Minister, Espen Barth Eide, on his first official visit to Afghanstan, says Norway plans to hand over responsibility for the Faryab province to the Afghans in 2012 and pull out of the province in 2013.

After this the main Norwegian headquarter at Meymaneh will be turned over to the Afghan Army as a gift

However, Barth Eide says that after the pullout, a few Norwegian troops will remain in    Mazar-i-Sharif. These will continue the training of Afghan troops and act as advisers.

The Norwegian Defence Minister landed in Afghanistan on Monday, and will over the next few days visit Norwegian troops in the country.
