Javelin: Continental win for Thorkidsen

Norway's Andreas Thorkildsen won the men's javelin contest at the IAAF Continental Cup in Split, Croatia on Sunday, with a throw of 89.26 metres. South Africa's Gergardus Pienaar came second with 83.17.

Germany's Matthias de Zordo placed third with a throw measuring 82.89 metres.

Thorkildsen achieved the three longest throws of the contest. Statistics show that he has 9 of the 11 longest throws this season.

Vacation is next for Thorkildsen, before he starts training for next season on November 1st.
