Cycling: The World's largest cross country race

The cross country biking race Birkebeinerrittet, said to be the largest such race the world is held in central Norway this weekend. This year nearly 20,000 participants were registered.

The course is 94.6 km with start at Rena and finish in Lillehammer. All competitors must have passed 17 years of age as per December 31, 2010, and must carry a backpack of at least 3,5 kg throughout the race.

Last year's race was a mud bath from beginning to end, and the weather this Saturday is not promising either.
