WW II resistance leader and politician has died Commander of the Norwegian World War II underground resistance troops Milorg, politician and industrial leader Jens Christian Hauge has passed away at the age of 91.
After the liberation of Norway in 1945, the war hero became Minister of Defence in two goverments. He then became an attorney and later Justice Minister.
He had great influence on Norwegian politics also after he left the government. Hauge also became engaged in Norwegian cultural life, in the development of the nation's theatres and in particular in the development of the National Theatre in Oslo. Hauge also served in several central positions in Norwegian industry, and also as adviser on the development of Norwegian industrial policy.
