The Treholt case: - Fabrication of evidence is a lieThe recent claims that the evidence in the Treholt spy-case were fabricated, are lies, says one of the police invetigators who together with a colleague searched Treholt's apartment in 1983. In an interview with the newspaper VG, the former officer in the Police Special Branch (POT) refutes the claims that evidence was tempered with. In a book published two weeks ago, the officer and his colleague are accused of having fabricated the so-called "money-evidence" in the case. The Norwegian Criminal Cases Review Commission (Gjenopptagelseskommisjonen) will Monday begin its work re-examining the case, and will this week decide whether or not there is basis for a review of the spy case against former diplomat Arne Treholt.
