Storm sweeps coastal Norway
The ferry, with only the engineer onboard, was finally brought under tow by a tug, and secured with new moorings, NRK reports. The gale-force winds was battering the whole coast from Stavanger to Trondheim, and resulted in waves measuring up to 20 metres high at Stad, the Western Cape of Norway, just south of Ålesund. The wind, with driving snow and sleet, also resulted in many closed roads over the mountain passes between Western and Eastern Norway from Friday afternoon. Other roads were open to convoys only. In the county of Sogn og Fjordane several roads were Saturday morning still closed due to snowslides or threats of slides. (NRK)

In Kristiansund harbour iin Central Norway, cost guard and rescue vessels were Saturday morning fighting for control over a ferry that had been torn from its moorings by a violent storm in the region.
