SAS and Oslo Airport ranked best in Europe
87,1 percent of all departures left Gardermoen on time in 2011, according to the survey. This makes Oslo Airport the number one airport when it comes to punctuality in all of Europe, which was also the case in the rankings from 2010. The European average was 73,4 percent of flights on time, according to FlightStats. Even when compared to the winner of the largest airports in the world – Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in the U.S – Gardermoen had the best on-time performance. "Despite it being winter most of the year, we achieved becoming Europe’s number one airport for on-time performance again. Of course that makes us proud, " Chief of Information at Oslo airport, Jo Kobro, tells NRK. SAS was one of five airlines nominated for best on-time performance in Europe, and went all the way to the top with statistics showing that 88,2 percent of flights arrived on time last year.
