Roads in the North remain closed
Several major roads in the three northern counties remained closed on Wednesday, due to rock and mud slides as well as flooding, caused by the melting snow in the warm weather. According to the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVA) the flood waters will peak by the end of the week. Among the roads closed are the two crossing the mountain passes into Sweden at Umbukta og Skarmodalen. The provincial road 15 between Dale and Alvestad in Troms is also closed. The main railway line to Northern Norway (Nordlandsbanen) is still closed between Dunderland and Rognan, and it is feared that it will take a couple of weeks before it can be repaired. (NRK)
