Rise in employment continues
A total of 3.3 per cent of the Norwegian labour force was unemployed in September, according to Statistics Norway. In the EU-15 countries, the unemployment rate increased by 0.2 percentage points from June to September, to 9.7 per cent. During the same period, the unemployment in the USA decreased by 0.1 percentage point, to 9.1 per cent. In Sweden, the unemployment rate was reduced by 0.2 percentage points between June and September, to 7.2 per cent of the labour force. During the same period, Denmark had a decrease of 0.1 percentage point, ending at 7.1 per cent. All figures refer to seasonally-adjusted data from Eurostat. (Press release)
