Piracy: Arming Norwegian ships considered
The application was first turned down by the Department of Trade and Industry, but the Minister of Trade and Industry Trond Giske has now said that a new law on surveillance and protection, which comes into effect from January 1st 2011, may open for the arming of Norwegian ships. - We are continously considering measures which will protect our people and our ships, says Odfjell Director Jan Didrik Lorentz to Bergens Tidende.
