Norway condemns violence in Syria

Norway condemns in the strongest terms the increasing use of violence in Syria, where thousands have been killed in the 10 month long uprising, says Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.

- We sharply dissociate ourselves from the Syrian authorities' gross human rights encroachment against its own population, Støre says.

- From the Norwegian side we support the Arab Leaague's peace plan for Syria, an hope that the Security Council will soon approve the plan, the Norwegian Foreign Minister says.
