New re-trial in Congo

Two Norwegians, earlier sentenced to death in the Democratic Republic of Congo for killing their taxi driver, were back in court on Tuesday, after appealing their earlier convictions.

Joshua French, who holds joint British-Norwegian nationality, and Tjostolv Moland were also accused of spying for Norway.

The new prosecutors made it clear they would once again seek a new death sentence.

A court in the DR of Congo in April overturned the death sentences, accepting defence arguments that procedures at their military tribunal hearing were flawed.
