New psychiatric evaluation of Behring BreivikThe Oslo City Court has ordered a new psychiatric evaluation of July 22nd terrorist Anders Behring Breivik, after an earlier controversial report found him legally insane. Two new experts, Agnar Aspaas and Terje Toerrisen, were named to evaluate Breivik's sanity. Wenche Elizabeth Arntzen, one of the judges appointed to handle the Brevik trial in the spring, said Friday that the new evaluation was necessary because of widespread criticism of the initial findings. Last week, an expert team of four psychiatrists monitoring Breivik at the jail where he is held, said they believed he was not psychotic, contradicting the findings of the psychiatrists initially appointed by the court. On the basis of the earlier report, Breivik would be placed in psychiatric care instead of prison. Breivik’s defense attorney Geir Lippestad told NRK he wasn’t surprised that the court ordered a new psychiatric evaluation of Breivik. However, he said that he supported Breivik's earlier statement that he would refuse to speak to the new psychiatric experts. Breivik's bombing of the government office building in downtown Oslo and massacre at the Utøya youth camp on July 22nd left 77 people dead and 151 injured.
