Major hashish seizure

Customs officers seized 560kg of hashish on a Dutch truck arriving in Larvik this week. This is the second largest hashish seizure in Norway ever, with a street value of NOK 75 million.

The Dutch driver has been detained for four weeks, two of these in full isolation.

So far this year, customs have seized 1.5 tons of hashish, and 2011 looks to be a record year for hashish seizures in Norway.

- In October alone we have seized nearly 800kg, says Customs Director Bjørn Røse.

Most of the hashish arriving in Norway originally comes from Morocco, Røse says.
