Joly candidate for the French precidential election

French/Norwegian lawyer and corruption hunter Eva Joly (photo) has announced that she is a candidate for the French presidential election in 2012. She is today a member of the European Parliament.

Eva Joly holds dual Norwegian/French citizenship and represents the political party Europe Ècologie.

Joly has become famous in France and internationally for her ceaseless fight against corruption in France, most noteably her work with the investigations of the Elf oil company case. Eva Joly left Norway for France as a young student and eventually settled there.

She has also been a special adviser to the Norwegian government, leading a special working group which coordinated the fight against corruption and money laundering across international borders.

Eva Joly was also called by the World Bank to participate in a working group fighting international corruption.
