Jews in Oslo cautioned The Jewish community in Oslo has adviced its members against wearing the kippah or speaking Hebrew on the streets, after a Jewish man was assaulted last weekend. There has also been a bomb threat against a synagogue in Sweden.
According to the newspaper Vaart Land, a Jewish man was attacked by several Arabs in Oslo last Saturday.
Leader of the Mosaic Religious Community in Oslo, Anne Sender, says its members have been asked to be careful during this time of conflict in the Middle East, and have been cautioned against speaking Hebrew loudly in the streets, and wearing Jewish emblems. This has provoked profiled journalist Mona Levin. She says to NRK Radio that she now intends to start wearing her Star of David again, a symbol she put away in a drawer 10 years ago. She says that the personal security of Jews in Norway is the responsibility of the authorities, not a task of the individual. In Sweden, a bomb threat was received Thursday evening, against the Jewish synagoue in Malmoe. The threat has been tied to the conflict in the Middle East, Dagens Nyheter reports.
