Foreign Minister visits Afghanistan
- This visit gives me the opportunity to visit the Norwegian troops in Afghanistan and to express our support for the job they are doing here, the Norwegian Foreign Minister said. Støre will also participate in a large Afghanistan confernce in Kabul later this week, where foreign ministers from several countries and representatives for the Afghan government will meet to discuss the way ahead for Afghanistan. Norway is one of the major contributors to the civilian re-building of Afghanistan, with NOK 750 million a year. - Our presence in Afghanistan is one of the most important and most demanding areas of Norwegian foreign policy, and my aim is therefore to visit the country regularly, Støre said.
