Flooding stops traffic in Central Norway

Flooding and avalanches blocked rail and road traffic in many parts of Central Norway on Thursday, particularly in the counties of Trøndelag. Many roads in Western Norway were also blocked.

Many county and municipal roads around Bergen and in the county of Hordaland were closed to traffic due to flooding and mud slides. The police have also issued warnings against high risks of avalanches in the area.

This is also true of the Nordland and Trøndelag counties, where flooding has stopped rail traffic at Meråker, while many major roads are also closed due to the flooding.

Also several Trøndelag rivers full of drifting ice are closely monitored, for fears that the ice will block the water flow, endangering several farms and hamlets.
