Extensive avalanche warnings issued

Avalanche warnings have been issued for most of the country for the coming week, and the risk factor has been increased from between two and three to four, on a scale of five.

The Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI) is warning skiers to take precaution, particularly on or near steep slopes, following milder weather with more snow.

On Saturday two men perished in an avalanche on Kvaløya in Troms County. Two others skiing with them, escaped injury.

Several avalanches were also reported in the slopes of Western Norway during Saturday and Sunday, and although no one was reported missing, search crews with dogs were sent in to make sure.
