Eurovision Song Contest Final to be staged in Oslo The Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK) which is to host next year's Eurovision Song Contest Final, has announced that the show will be staged at an arena in the Oslo area. (Photo: This year's winner Alexander Rybak)
The Final will take place on May 29th, and according to NRK Chief Hans-Tore Bjerkaas, the final decision will be based on upcoming negotiations with prospective sites. He said Oslo was chosen as host city because it met the requirements as far as hotel capacity and communications infrastructure was concerned. Norway has hosted the Eurovision Song Contest Final twice before: In 1986 it was staged at Grieghallen in Bergen, and ten years later at Spectrum in Oslo. Spectrum is one possibility also this time, as is the newly-built Telenor Arena just outside the city centre, which has a much larger seating capacity. The site is to be announced by the end of June.
