Emergency services reduced

Emergency medical services in Norway have been limited during the air travel embargo. All ambulance and rescue planes and helicopters are grounded, making emergency transport of the sick in rural areas difficult.

In Norway, with many sparsely populated areas, emergency cases are more often transported by air than in other countries.

During this period, it is back to ambulances by road or water, and what used to be a short trip by air, is again hours by boat or car.

Municipalities nationwide have been asked to consider which measures are needed to maintain the best possible medical preparedness.
