Emergency aid to El SalvadorThe Norwegian government has allocated NOK 5 million in emergency aid to the ongoing salvage work following heavy rains and flooding in El Salvador. Central America has been severely hit by flooding and landslides, and El Salvador is among the countries worst hit. Up to now, 35 people have died and 55,000 have been evacuated. Around 300,000 persons are affected by the worst weather in El Salvador in 50 years. - This is a sign of the Norwegian people's solidarity and friendship with my people. We are grateful for the contribution from Norway, says Roberto Lorenzana, vice president of El Salvador's Parlament and spokesman for the authorities.
