Crown Prince Haakon Leads Dignity Day

Crown Prince Haakon opened Dignity Day at Stovner Secondary School in Oslo Thursday, an event that was marked at more than 150 schools across the country.

The Crown Prince and Crown Princess have been actively involved in the project since it was started in 2008. Today, in its fourth year, 50 countries across all continents celebrated what has officially become known as Dignity Day – a day meant to inspire people to reflect on what dignity means in their own lives as well as in others’.

"Each and every one of you is a leader. Somebody looks up to you – at the soccer field, in the school yard, in your family. Think about how you want to use that leadership!" Crown Prince Haakon told students at Stovner Secondary school, after he had listened to their own stories and thoughts about dignity.

Dignity Day is an independent and not-for-profit organization, and its main goals are to initiate a conversation about dignity, as well as leadership inspired by dignity, with today’s youth.

Through conversations and spreading awareness, the projects aims to make youth more conscious of how dignity can help them create positive changes in the world.
