Conservatives top August poll

The Conservative Party (Høyre) tops yet another August poll, and is clearly Norway's largest political party, supported by 29.6 per cent of those asked, up 2.3 points from last month. (Photo: Høyre leader Erna Solberg)

Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg's Labour Party (AP) drops 1.9 points, to 26.1 per cent, according to the same poll, made by Synovates for Dagbladet.

The right-wing Progress Party (FrP) drops 0.7 points, to 22.3 per cent, and is still the third largest party.

If this had been a general election, Høyre and FrP together would have received 91 of the 169 seats in Parliament (Stortinget).

The red-green government three-party coalition would have a total of 68 seats. Prime Minister Stoltenberg is not satisfied, but says to Dagbladet that it ispossible to turn disappointing polls through hard political work.
