Avalanche warnings nationwideNorway's Geotechnical Institute has issued avalanche warnings for large parts of the country, but the institute says the unusual situation will improve within a short time. In the county of Sunnmøre two hamlets are isolated by avalanches, and in the tourist center of Geiranger people will have to use a ferry to travel to and from the village. In the northern county of Troms the authorities have closed two schools because the roads are threatened by avalanches. The police have urged the public to use caution when travelling along roads they know are usually threatened by snow and rock slides. (NRK)
