Area hit by mud slide still unstableThe last 35 persons evacuated after the major mud slide south of Trondheim on Sunday will probably not be able to move back to their homes for several days, since the area is still unstable. However, on Monday they were allowed back to their homes for a few minutes to pick up valuables and personal items. Geologists are now in the process of taking soil samples and measure water pressure in the ground water basin, in order to try to determine if the clayey mud is becoming more stable. There are several farms in the area, and some cultivated farm land was destroyed, One farmer estimates that 10 per cent of his cultivated acreage is lost in the slide. (NRK)
