The National Council of the Norwegian Lutheran Church has voted against a proposal to allow same-sex marriages performed in the state church. The vote was 64 against and 51 in favour.
At its meeting in Kristiansand on Tuesday the Council also voted on a proposal to provide a intercession liturgy for same sex civil marriages. This was also turned down, with a vote of 62 against and 54 in favour.
This means that the year-long debate on the Church's view on marriage will continue.
