NOK 300 million for further education of teachers

The Government wants to spend more than NOK 300 million of its budget on further education for teachers,Minister of Education Torbjørn Røe Isaksen has announced.

Røe Isaksen wishes to spend NOK 50 million of the NOK 300 million budget on expanding the continuing education program for teachers at colleges and universities.

He emphasizes that the education that is being offered must be de-centralized by measures such as distance education in order that teachers from all over the country may benefit from the programs being offered.

The Government also plans to pick up most of the tab, so that the counties will not be able to prevent certain teachers from getting he education they want, based on financial constraints.

Both Røe Isaksen, Prime Minister Erna Solberg and Mayor Fabian Stang visited Skøyenåsen school in Oslo on Monday.
