Declining unemplyment rate

The unemployment rate in Norway was in June 3.0 per cent of the total labour force, down from 3.2 per cent in March, according to latest figures from Statistics Norway (SSB). Employment has remained stable.

From March to June, unemployment continued to rise in the EU countries as well as in the USA. In both Sweden and Denmark the unemployment rate increased by one percentage point to 9.0 and 6.2 per cent respectively.

In the USA it rose from 8.5 to 9.5 per cent in the same period, according to SSB.

In Norway, employment has remained stable since May 2008.
