Welcome to the Rolf Nesch Museum

An artist's treasure in the heart of Hallingdal.

An inventive, creative European artist.

Rolf Nesch (1893 - 1975) was a respected artist when he fled from Nazi Germany to Norway in 1933. His creative contributions to the graphic art and his development of the material picture gave him international reputation. Rolf Nesch moved to Ål in 1951. This is why a separate museum exhibiting his art was established right here in Ål in 1993, the year he would have turned 100.

The permanent collection in the museum includes prints, sculptures, material pictures as well as oil paintings, and shows a representative and exciting range of his artistical work in the period 1916 to 1972.
