Trøndelag Folk Museum is one of the largest cultural history museums in Norway. It shows the building traditions in Trøndelag, from town and country, from mountain to coast and from Sami huts to city mansions. The museum dates back to 1909, when a group of Trondheim residents started to collect "characteristic examples of the way houses were built in earlier times".
ORKLA lndustrial Museum preserves industrial and technical pieces of historical interest in the districts of Orkdal and Meldal, developing these into objects of attraction, and it also presents the local history of industry and labour in an informative, exciting manner.
The Museum documents the development of Norwegian agriculture with an emphasis on the 20th century. The architecture of the museum building is unique. There is a museum farm and a 4H farm, including old breeds of farm animals.
When Edvard Grieg grew up, Bergen was a small and busy European town. All through its past as a Hanseatic city, Bergen had established a net of connections that made it the only continental Norwegian city. The main business was the trade with fish and other products typical for the coast..
In Northern Norway during the Iron-age, there were about 10-15 Chiefdoms, one of which was at Borg in Lofoten. This is the only place where a Chieftains farm is found.
