Biathlon: Svendsen wins season opener

Norway's double Olympic champion Emil Hegle Svendsen got a flying start to his biathlon World Cup campaign, winning the season-opening men's indivudal 20km in Østersund, Sweden on Thursday.

Svendsen's compatriot and 36-year-old veteran Ole Einar Bjoerndalen collected silver, while the bronze went to Martin Fourcade of France.

Norway's newcomer Tarjei Bø made it a near-pefect day for Norway by placing fourth.
