Cycling: Boasson Hagen 2nd

Norwegian biker Edgar Boasson Hagen (Sky) placed second in the 48km international ITT event at Les Herbiers in France on Sunday. UK's ITT expert David Millar (Garmin) won the race.

Lieuwe Westra from the Netherlands (Vacansoleil) placed third, 47 seconds behind Hagen.

Around 18,000 bikers take part in the annual Birkebeinerrittet between Rena and Lillehammer this weekend. Birkebeinerrittet is the world's largest cross country bicycle race. The course is 94,6 km long. The start on Saturday is iin Rena and the finish in Lillehammer. All competitors must have passed 17 years of age as per December 31, 2012 and must carry a backpack of at least 3,5 kg throughout the race.
