See the spectacular Nærøyfjord and Aurlandsfjord. The Nærøyfjord is a branch of the Sognefjord. It has been included in the UN’s World Heritage list and is considered to be among the most scenically outstanding fjord areas on the planet.
Geirangerfjord is known as the real jewel of the Norwegian fjords. The Pulpit Rock (Preikestolen), the most famous tourist attraction in Ryfylke, towers an impressive 604 metres over the Lysefjord. In old times, the plateau was called Hyvlatånnå ("planed tooth"). This flat mountain plateau, approximately 600 square metres was most likely formed with the melting frost 10,000 years ago.
During summer, the sun never sets. Capture this magnificent experience on a midnight sun cruise or safari before the darkness of winter arrives. Norway is different from most other European countries because of the light. During the summer months, it doesn't get dark at night. This goes for the whole country. Then there is the midnight sun.
In 1981 two Swedes travelled to Canada to observe whales. A Vancouver scientist asked them why they came all the way to Canada - for whales could be seen off the coast of Norway as well. Next year those two Swedes voyaged to Northern Norway – and this is how it all began.
