Crown Prince Couple travels to San Francisco

Crown Prince CoupleOn the second day of the Crown Prince couple's visit in the U.S., Crown Princess Mette-Marit traveled on to San Francisco, where the couple has a busy program over the next few days.

Crown Prince Haakon wrapped up the couple's visit in Texas at Fort Worth, while Crown Princess Mette-Marit moved on to San Francisco on Tuesday.

The couple has several meetings scheduled in the Windy City over the next couple of days, and Mette-Marit got a head start when she visited the Norwegian Seamen's Church on Tuesday - a popular meeting place for the many Norwegians and other Scandinavians in the area.

The church is situated just across from the well-known area called Fisherman's Wharf, and was started in 1951, as the first of several services for Norwegian seamen. Today people still travel to visit the church that aims to be "a home away from home," including tourists, students and citizens.

Tuesday evening both the Crown Prince and Princess attended a concert with the Norwegian punk/metal band Kvelertak, which is touring in the U.S. and Canada this month.

The program continues on Wednesday at a seminar about tourism, also in San Francisco, where Crown Prince Haakon will give a presentation about Norway as a tourist destination.
