New Norwegian cross country triumphs

altMarit Bjørgen raced to victory in the women's 10km cross country classic mass start in the World Cup Final mini tour on Saturday to complete a Norwegian one-two-three in Falun with Therese Johaug second and Heidi Weng third.

The trio finished ahead of Poland's of Justyna Kowalczyk.

This means that Bjørgen moved one step closer to overall victory of the mini tour. Bjoergen leads Kowalczyk by 45.5 seconds heading into the season-closing final 10km freestyle mini tour stage in Falun with Johaug 1:19.7 minutes behind in total in third place.

Norway's Eldar Rønning won the men's 15km classic mass start at Falun, ahead of Russia's Maxim Vylegzhanin, and with Norwegian team mate Martin Johnsrud Sundby in third.

Compatriot Petter Northug had to settle for fourth place, but this was still good enough for Northug to extend his lead in both the mini tour and the overall World Cup standings ahead of the season-closing 15km freestyle on Sunday.
