Cross Country: Sprint win for Northug

altPetter Northug won the men's World Cup classic cross country sprint on home turf at Drammen, Norway on Wednesday, ahead of Aleksej Poltoranin of Kazakhstan. Russia's Nikita Kruikov came third.

The Norwegian is now just 23 points behind overall World Cup leader Dario Cologna from Switzerland, with five rounds remaining.

The women's sprint was won by Poland's Justyna Kowalczyk, ahead of Norway's Heidi Wang and Ingvild Flugstad Oestberg, who were second and third respectively.

Norway's Marit Bjørgen did not participate, due to a cold.
