The new Norwegian Seamen’s Church in Miami which is set to open in three weeks, will be named Crown Princess Mette-Marit’s Church.
The Crown Princess will attend the opening in Miami on Saturday November 19, which will be an open house celebration with a barbeque, activities for the children, as well as an inauguration of each room. On Sunday there is a special worship ceremony, coffee and celebration.
The church has been named with permission from the Norwegian Royal Palace, and its full official name will be Crown Princess Mette-Marit’s Church – Scandinavian Church and Center.
The Norwegian Royals have a close and long relationship with the Seamen’s Churches across the world. Crown Prince Haakon visited the Seamen’s Church in San Francisco on Tuesday during his trip to the U.S. West Coast. and King Harald and Queen Sonja included a visit to the Seamen’s Church in New York on their U.S. tour last week.
