- A national tragedy for Poland

Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg and Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre joined other world leaders, offering their condolences and sympathy to the Polish nation, following the tragic air crash on Saturday.

 

- The accident which struck the Polish President and leading personalities in the Polish state, is a national tragedy for Poland, says Foreign Minister Støre.

King Harald also sent his condolences, on behalf of the Royal Family and the Norwegian people to the President of the Polish National Assembly, Bronislaw Komorowski. - I was shocked and saddened by the news of the tragic accident, the King said in the telegram.

The large Polish community in Norway also gathered in various places to show and share their sorrow.

At the St. Olav Catholic Church in Oslo, a special mass was held, where Foreign Minister Støre also participated.

Around 100.000 Polish citizens live and work in Norway, and in a short speech, the Norwegian Foreign Minister said:

- You are making a great contribution to the Norwegian society. Today, Norwegian men and women stand by you in your sorrow. We think of you and pray for you.
