Major Government reshuffle

Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg (photo)has announced a major reshuffle of his coalition government. Jonas Gahr Støre has been appointed new Minister of Health and Care Services.

Støre, who up to now has been Foreign Minister, replaces Anne-Grete Strøm-Erichsen who is the new Minister of Defence. She in turn takes over from Espen Barth Eide who is appointed new Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Hadia Tajik, Member of Parliament, is new Minister of Culture. She takes over from Anniken Huitfeldt who is new Minister of Labour.

Former Minister of Labour, Hanne Bjurstrøm, has been honourably discharged from her office.

Hadi Tajik (29) is the youngest Norwegian government minister ever. She is also the first Muslim government minister. She has represented the county of Rogaland in Parliament.

All changes in the red-green coalition government this time are among ministers of Stoltenberg's own Labour Party.
