Voters favour Stoltenberg in crisis

A majority of those asked believe Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg is best suited to lead Norway through the present economic crisis, according to a poll made by Norfakta for newspapers Klassekampen and Nationen.

Although Stoltenberg's Labour Party (AP) has the support of only 30 per cent of the electorate, 48.1 per cent say they have confidence in him as the country's prime minister.

His chief rival, the Conservative Party's leader, Erna Solberg, is preferred by 33.8 per cent.

Political analyst Anders Todal Jenssen says the Government now benefits from the way it handled the financial crisis in 2008.
