Head of the right wing Progress Party (FrP), Siv Jensen, admits that she was informed about the sex rumours involving a central party leader in the fall of 2009, but she refuses to step down.
On Saturday several central FrP-members expressed the opinion that the party's leadership should consider stepping down in the wake of the news that the former leader of FrP's youth branch had secretly filmed naked men in his own bathroom and allegedly had sexual relations with a minor.
FrP leader Jensen says she has no plans to step down and that it is up to the party to decide whether or not she will remain leader of the party.
However, she says she respects the fact that people within the party strongly disagree with the way the party leadership has handled the situation.
- But then I have done what the party meant for me to do. I do not believe it is in the party's interest that I step down at this point, Jensen says.
