Avalanche warnings for the Easter Holiday

As Easter vacation starts for many Norwegians today, Friday, the Norwegian Red Cross and experts now warn the many who will head for the mountain trails to beware of the danger of avalanches.

In Northern Norway in particular, the danger is great, after considerable snowfall the last several weeks.

The experts also point out that the weather conditions are very special in many places this winter, and that there is danger of avalanches in areas where one usually may ski safely.

Last year, avalanches killed five persons in Norway, and the Red Cross patrols were called out to elleven different sites.
